I wouldn’t completely agree that Santi Cazorla fits in the modern central midfielder category but I see the point being made. It’s interesting to think that Schweinsteiger may have been bought specifically for European encounters, though he’ll play other competitions too obviously. Delph still has to prove he can do what he did for Villa at a higher level but a return to form for Yaya Toure may alleviate some of that pressure.
