Great piece here. The over-hyping of young players is prevalent in the Premier League because there aren’t as many youngsters who are regulars for their clubs. It happens elsewhere but in France, Germany, Spain and, to a lesser extent, Italy young players play a lot more. That goes for elsewhere in Europe and South America etc. Agreed with the author that good contributions at a young age deserve praise but by no means should the likes of Rashford touted as a possible candidate for England at the Euros. Dele Alli? Sure. He has become a regular and pretty much consistent contributor for Tottenham but that doesn’t mean he should be a starter.
