FA Cup must remain football’s hollow crown to maintain its magic | Paul Wilson | Football | The Guardian

The FA Cup has definitely lost some of its magic even with a number of underdogs showing up in the finals in recent seasons. Even Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United seems a bit boring for this neutral as neither team has done much to excite this season. It would be difficult enough to change the reward from A Europa League berth to a Champions League berth even if, as the author mentioned, it would increase the level of intensity with which the bigger teams approach the tournament.
