Sometimes a title can lead readers to have a lot of “what the hell?” reactions and thus opinions are already formed in opposition to the article. I’m sure this is one of those cases. I’m also pretty sure the most ardent Cristiano Ronaldo fans read this pitchforks in hand so a lot of the arguments passed them by. I get what the author is saying here but I can’t fully agree. It is difficult to think of that one standout moment or performance from Ronaldo that made a big impact in a trophy win or league title Ronaldo, similar to Messi’s goal against Athletic Bilbao for instance, but there has to be, right? You could argue that, if they win the Champions League, even if he doesn’t score, his performance against Wolfsburg could be it. They wouldn’t have gotten the title if he didn’t do that. Maybe there are others. I can think of his goal against Arsenal and the one against Porto in the 08/09 Champions League but they then lost the final to Barcelona so its hard to add those I guess.
I tried to scroll through the comments for CR7 fans to provide some but of course too many were focused on the title and the usual writer bashing.
