Pedro Milner among Premier League most intriguing transfers – ESPN FC

Ola Toivonen always ends up somewhere in the Premier League in Football Manager so it seemed inevitable it would happen in real life. I agree these are among the most intriguing transfers. Would’ve liked to see him talk about Ayew to Swansea, Heung Min-Son to Tottenham and any number of Aston Villa’s somewhat random signings.

Some good points about the distraction of the transfer window but I don’t agree wholeheartedly. If clubs got their business done early then there would be no need for posturing, or players looking over their shoulder and underperforming etc. Case in point, Chelsea did just that last season and look what it brought them. Mourinho’s unwillingness to rotate and defensive mentality in the second half of the season aside, they could have done even better than just the Premier League.

It is good to see some of the “smaller” clubs hold unto their stars this time around though. Makes things more interesting.

De Gea Martial and Man United signs of deadline day panic – ESPN FC

Yeah, you would really find it tough to argue that Manchester United’s signing of Anthony Martial was anything but a panic buy. Aside from the fee, you could say the same about Chelsea’s signings. Deadline itself was a bit of a bore but the last few days of the deadline were interesting overall.

Now, finally, to the football.

What happens when there’s a new coach at Manchester United though? Does Van Gaal think he can raise Martial’s level so much in two seasons with his rigidity? Definitely a big gamble.

He is a very talented young player, Arsenal fans can attest to that, but there’s no telling how things will end up.

Really good piece here. I do hope West Bromwich and Everton hold on to their respective players.

John Stones and the dispiriting evil of immediate migration | Squawka News | Squawka Analysis

I’m sure it would be disheartening for fans of a club to see a player want to leave when’s barely become a regular for them. Wonder what the players are thinking sometimes, especially Stones.

How Wolfsburg lost Kevin De Bruyne to Man City – ESPN FC

I find it really strange, regardless of the reasoning the author provided, that Wolfsburg were willing to sell De Bruyne to Bayern Munich. A lot of teams have tried, or in Evertons and WBA’s cases are trying, to ward of rich suitors for their best players. You would think Wolfsburg would have been able to keep De Bruyne. Wonder how they’ll alter things without him.

What’s the point of handing in a transfer request? | FourFourTwo

What’s the point of handing in a transfer request? | FourFourTwo.

Interesting read. Transfer requests definitely change the dynamic at a club for the player involved. I don’t see why they would do it unless they are certain they’ll get what they want. Doesn’t look like Stones or Berahino will at this time and so both will face the wrath of their fans. Raheem Sterling’s approach wasn’t great either but a transfer request just opens a whole can of worms. I think it can still have an effect depending on the parties involved.

Well then. All clubs should try to win all trophies available, I agree. I’m not sure we want to see money raining down from the heavens and thrown all over the place though either.
