Football Manager 2017 review – the best in the series, but only for dedicated fans | Technology | The Guardian
Football Manager is the one game that sometimes supersedes FIFA as far as I’m concerned. The level of detail etc just continues to amaze.
I don’t agree that FM 17 is only for dedicated fans but I’m like an Apple customer at this point, I buy newest product every year with regardless of changes/improvements and am baffled when anyone criticizes it. I think the improved menus, increase in up front information and improved AI makes it a fun game for newcomers too, especially with the little helper thing on. I do agree that the addition of the social media feed and the lack of real explanation of the sports scientist and data analysts required more thought but I expect FM will improve upon these things as usual.
I’ll have my Arsenal first season update posted in a bit.

Played any of these games? I think I really got into the mix when FIFA International Soccer came out. Or at least that was one of the first games I played when I was old enough. I do remember that Virtua Striker was tons of fun. FIFA’s where it’s at now though.

For the uninitiated. I’ll say it made me tweak my approach a bit though as sometimes I give instructions on a Van Gaal-like level.

Still haven’t touched the demo yet, partly because I feel like the official version will change, but looking forward to it. Liking the fact that players can’t just hoof it anymore and passing holds higher importance.

Lol. This is hilarious. Every FIFA player must be nodding their head with this. Really looking forward to FIFA 16

Expected all the usual, and pretty much got most of them. Some interesting choices on the list, though none that I’d probably go with. Arsenal fans will, of course, be annoyed the team isn’t on there. I’m sure everybody wants to play with Nacho Monreal guys. So, I haven’t downloaded the demo yet and debating it still as I know the gameplay is going to be different from the official version. I felt like FIFA 14 and 15 were vastly different and if the same goes with 16 then there’s really no point in the demo. Of course, I’ll probably still get it.

Eh. That’s cool. Still a FIFA man myself. I have played previous versions of PES and it was good but not enough to make me change.

I like FIFA 15, I actually feel like I can play football the way I want for once. Online is much more fun as a result. Only annoying thing is my defensive midfielders constantly joining the attack. If FIFA 16 fixes that and the alterations don’t make the game arcade-like then I’m good.

Put a smile on my face. Great to see superstars from different sports appreciating each other. And to think FIFA played a big part in it all.

Figured we’d end the day with some virtual reality in terms of football.
This experiment was pretty great but the thing that I’d say is a real setback is the lack of youth development. Otherwise it was extraordinary to see the changes and the growth of the club with Moneyball rules.(I’d love to see a team really try it in real life).
As I said in a previous post, I’m finally challenging myself to a tiny club to super club run in FM and loosely, very loosely, following some of these rules with my own usual videogame craziness. Barnet is my club. Season 1 should be done soon. Maybe.
