Italy’s Andrea Pirlo and Sebastian Giovinco omissions not surprising – ESPN FC

The omissions aren’t surprising but that doesn’t mean they’re correct at least not in Giovinco’s case. If Conte’s chief reason is that he doesn’t see Giovinco as a fit for his preferred system in a tactical sense then fine. I still think his form should have been good enough to warrant a trip to the training camp and go from there. Not too many great options for Italy to choose from in attack so a player who would come in as one of the more experienced internationals who can somewhat play as a forward should’ve been chosen. Oh well.

Steven Gerrard Frank Lampard follow David Beckham MLS – ESPN FC.

Good read. Gerrard, Lampard and Pirlo sprinkle more stardust on the MLS but they aren’t there for solely marketing purposes. They are there to prove they are can make an impact and improve their teams and the league on the field.

Still a very strong squad even without the these two and they wouldn’t be as worried if just one of the duo had left. I am surprised Andrea Pirlo left but I think with what they’ve done in the last few seasons they are definitely an exciting option for any player. I think Oscar, while difficult, is a good shout but they may need to sell to get him.

Yes, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard are shorter term solutions but I’m sure that, along with the idea of increasing the club’s profile, their additions are meant to help New York City FC win or at least challenge right away. That will ultimately help increase the club’s profile as well. Sure, there will be an adjustment period but those two, especially Pirlo, have the quality to make that difference.

Two greats of the game who will be missed on the biggest stages. Can’t get over Pirlo crying yet. Can’t believe Xavi’s going to Qatar though, would prefer both on the MLS if Pirlo ends up there. Oh well.

Could Juventus’ Andrea Pirlo Realistically Thrive in the Premier League? | Bleacher Report.

Could Andrea Pirlo thrive in the Premier League? I’m not sure. Could he be a solid, good option depending on the team he joins? Yes. It’s an interesting question to ask but one that I really don’t see becoming a reality at all.
