Agreed for the most part. I think United are the biggest winners, and De Gea a close second. Even if there is a release clause in place and Real Madrid are okay with it they still have to pay what should be a considerable amount instead of getting De Gea for free.

Hands up who thought the David De Gea saga, and eventual outcome, was ridiculous. Thought so. Here’s a couple interesting pieces on the situation and info on how things went down. I think De Gea will play again for United this season but it will certainly be his last.

Agreed. Given everything that’s happened this summer, especially dropping De Gea for the start of the season, it wouldn’t make sense for him to stay. Maybe they are just waiting until the last-minute to try to screw Real Madrid but De Gea should go at this point.

Sergio Ramos David De Gea Manchester United Andy Mitten – ESPN FC.
Any possibility of Manchester United getting as good as Real Madrid gets in this deal definitely hinges on Sergio Ramos. As the author said, it’s a matter of when, not if, David De Gea is leaving.
If he leaves for a fee, unlikely to be a big one, and Ramos doesn’t go the other way then Madrid wins. I don’t see Ramos in Manchester at this time, though he has a former teammate in Di Maria and fellow Spanish nationals, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Victor Valdes.
Below is another good piece on the matter.

If he leaves then, yeah, I agree with the last sentence. Madrid won’t pay half what he’s worth. Interesting breakdown of his worth though.

Real Madrid saga Iker Casillas Keylor Navas David De Gea – ESPN FC.
Really crappy how Real Madrid have treated some of their legends. Iker Casillas is no longer the keeper he was, any fan or neutral or otherwise can see that. He is still a great keeper though and I think a lot of what’s wrong with him now is all the politics and crap he’s been dealing with at Real Madrid for the past few years. I don’t see the point of David De Gea’s arrival for either the player himself or Madrid but who knows what will happen.
We’ll all find out at some point.

Some more good pieces on the David De Gea saga with different viewpoints. I think De Gea should stay at Manchester United too. Big club, returning to their chances for silvewware, have just as good chance as Real Madrid, as far as this season shows, and he is the No. 1. As the author said, a move to Madrid will meaning dealing with Casillas, even if De Gea will likely replace him, plus dealing with Atletico Madrid fans.

Interesting list. Can’t say I’d think of better candidates for each category off the top of my head. I guess the Bolasie shout is surprising and you could argue for the likes of Eden Hazard or Alexis Sanchez etc in that category.

David De Gea Weighing Choice Between Manchester United and Real Madrid | Bleacher Report.
Some good points made about the weighing of choices between family preferences, working environment and advancing careers etc. From a footballing standpoint, De Gea is the starter for either team. Both will be in the Champions League and challenging for multiple titles. I think it’s the non-footballing factors that will decide things. If so, then there’s not much for Manchester United fans to get annoyed with.

Can Verratti, De Gea and Kane break into their national teams’ starting XIs? – ESPN FC.
Lots of younger players coming through soon but this is an interesting group to look at. I think the author ranked it by who would move into the first team the quickest.
Harry Kane will have to do more than score against Bulgaria, as he did on his debut, as he has plenty of competition. The key will be having a solid follow-up season in 2015/16.
Marco Verratti has more than just Andrea Pirlo to contend with but he is progressing enough at Paris Saint-Germain to make the midfield his own soon. As the author said, he’s still only 22.
The piece about David De Gea is definitely well said but it really is only a matter of time. Especially if Iker Casillas continues to put out the highs and lows. Anthony Lopes seems to have plenty of competition.
Bas Dost will most likely always be a Plan B unless he becomes as well-rounded as Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
