José Mourinho to Manchester United not the best fit but unlikely to be dull | Barney Ronay | Football | The Guardian
Is anyone else rubbing their hands with glee? Most Manchester United fans will, quite rightly, expect some success but for neutrals and fans of opponents it’ll be time to open the up the popcorn to see how this turns out. I thought the title about Mourinho moulding an exciting, attacking side was sarcasm but I guess not. Yes, his teams are generally cautious in the biggest of games and their counterattacking can be devastating but I don’t see. There is a lot for the Portuguese manager to do this summer and it’ll be interesting to see what he creates when the summer is done. Fun, fun.

Louis van Gaal was doomed at Manchester United by refusal to adapt | Amy Lawrence | Football | The Guardian
It’s surprising that the news of Van Gaal’s possible sacking, I don’t think it’s been fully confirmed yet hence the possible, came after the FA Cup win but it really isn’t surprising. It’s been fun seeing Manchester United labor so much these last few seasons though.

The idea that Louis Van Gaal would stay on after the this summer is baffling. I don’t see them getting into the Champions League spot and an FA Cup victory is nice but will amount to just masking tape. Just look at Arsenal. It’ll be interesting to see who Manchester United is waiting for if they really don’t go with Mourinho. Options are very limited in terms of big-name managers.

Premier League Chaos Has Claimed the Elite: Can Incoming Bosses Rise Above It? | Bleacher Report
Really good piece here. Next season will be really interesting and at first glance one would think the incoming high-profile managers will be key and basically restore order. We’ve already seen what Jurgen Klopp can do without a full preseason. Mauricio Pochettino is setting himself apart as well while Wenger is declining at Arsenal. There are other good managers and teams throughout the league but with the resources they have the big clubs look likely to return to the top.

Rashford and Martial Are Beacons of Hope for Manchester United’s Future | Bleacher Report
I’m sure Manchester United fans are happy with the recent youth movement but I think it’s a little too early for that last sentence. Martial should be a first name on the team-sheet, yes, but I think it’s still a little too early for Rashford. Depay has been so disappointing though but hopefully he comes good.
Manchester City and Manchester United at a crossroads: who will go on to dominate? | Jamie Jackson | Football | The Guardian
It really depends. We can’t really go on what’s going on with these clubs right now as we know changes are coming. I’d say Manchester City might just end up coming out on top just because of the Pep Guardiola factor. Even if Jose Mourinho ends up at Manchester United.
Manchester United and the problem of moving on from an all-powerful leader | Jonathan Wilson | Football | The Guardian
Great read here. Just as with any business etc. it is tough to move on from an-all powerful. Yes. There is the worry that things will fall apart for Arsenal when Arsene Wenger leaves. Maybe he can just head on upstairs but without too much interference.
Appointing Jose Mourinho would be a big strategic error for Man Utd – they need a long-term plan – Premier League 2015-2016 – Football – Eurosport
The title says it all and I agree. Although, the longer United takes to get it together the more fun it is for everyone else.

Great piece. Couldn’t agree more with the last paragraph;
Van Gaal might be a disappointment, but Woodward and the Manchester United front office have been a downright failure. Because of them, United are in little better shape than they were after Ferguson left. And until they either improve or are replaced, there’s little to suggest it will change any time soon.
Obviously David Moyes didn’t help himself, and Van Gaal is hardly doing better, though I thought he would, but the executives aren’t up to scratch now.

Weekly Why: Manchester United, Louis Van Gaal and the Masquerade of Philosophy | Bleacher Report
Some interesting thoughts here. I get it. Winning should be the only philosophy. I’m not in disagreement but I also think there’s no problem with having a viewpoint with how the game should be played. Does that mean managers should be/or are satisfied when their teams lose even if the philosophy is upheld? No. In fact, I doubt many of them are.
