It could. Not likely though. I don’t see anyone leaving Paris Saint-Germain at this stage, and we already know Pedro may be on his way to Manchester United. Benzema is a hard target for anyone and it looks like De Gea is staying at Manchester United until his contract ends. I think most teams have made the moves they wanted to so far, and unless something crazy happens then things will pretty much remain as is.

We touched on that David Conn article concerning Mendes towards the end of last year. Really crazy how influential he is in the game.

Yup. That Premier League money is drastically changing the way the transfer market runs now. What’s going to change that?

I think it’s harsh to include Wilfried Bony on this list, and Robert Snodgrass can’t be faulted with getting injured. Not much to change otherwise.

Good piece. Defensive players will always be less valued than offensive players but equally, if not more, important. As one commenter mentioned though, cohesion is a major necessity in defense which is why managers may stick with combinations that work, a la Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker at Arsenal, even if they aren’t world-beaters. It’s easier and possibly more beneficial in the end to spend in attack.
The major point the author makes about the changing role of the defender and how they have been hampered by rule changes are big as well. The older breed of defenders are definitely defenders first then everything else after but the new breed are required/expected to do more.
Transfer window bargains: 12 of the best deals available this summer | Alan Smith | Football | The Guardian
Figured we’d continue on the transfer category. While I understand the likes of Youri Tielemans being worth over the £10million due to potential resale, room for growth etc. I would think a “best deals list” would just stick with more proven talent preferably at a lower price. Tielemans could become an expensive flop after all.

Interesting take. I think I’ve become more fed up with transfer rumours now to the point where I hardly believe anything until is officially on a major site, or the club’s official web page. It is still a bit fun to speculate but with the money being thrown around and the countless crazy stories it’s a bit too much.
